October
Meeting Minutes
POB opened the meeting and
asked for the reading of the minutes of the last meeting. The last meeting was
our swap fest so there was not much to share. RCB gave an accounting of out
finances. We have $1011.?? in the bank.
We then discussed the quote
for club insurance. We were quoted #325/year. The motion was made, seconded and
passed to purchase the policy. This policy will cover all PBARC activities.
We then discussed building
J-Pole antennas. This will be a good opportunity for those who bought radios to
build your own J-pole antenna. POB recommended that we build these at our next
meeting, November 8th. Motion was made, seconded and passed. You need to send
WRL an e-mail, (wlawless@w5wrl.com) within the next 3 weeks so that we will
know how much material to buy. The club will buy the material then you will pay
for the antenna after building. The estimated cost will be $10 dollars per
antenna. This is a cost recovery project.
We then discussed field day
2004. After a lot of discussion it has been determined that a field day event
held in a far away, primitive location is not a good idea. We will be looking
for a place closer in so that we will have greater participation. We should
have the location settled within the next 2 months.
We then discussed club
by-law amendments. The by-laws we have are very generic and do not fit the
PBARC organization. POB recommended that we form a committee to make the
changes. The committee will be the following; POB, OUZ, WRL, MDS, RCB. After we
have met we will send to all the club membership for their review. We will then
vote on the amended by-laws at the next meeting.
We are close to 501C3
status. We need to get the by-laws amended first before we can go any further.
MWI will be teaching a Morse
code class at Emerson elementary this next week. The club voted and passed a
motion for the club to help with the purchase of 20 buzzers that the students
will use to build their own CW practice oscillator.
