February Meeting Minutes
Bill, N5POB opened the meeting then immediately made a
motion that we sell the remaining 6m radios at the MARC swap fest. The radios
would be sold for $50 each for club members and $62 for non-club members. We
have 3 radios and 2 microphones remaining. It also appears that there are two
of the radios that need attention. The motion was seconded and the vote was
unanimous to sell the radios. As a side note W5RC and a B told us that the
PBARC would have a table at the MARC swap fest.
Bill, N5POB asked for Old Business.
Mark, W5MDS summarized the last meetings as follows:
The club will purchase and deliver 10 WX radios to local day care centers. Dwayne aka Tod, KD5VOU managed to find some radios for $24 each.
The PBARC swap fest will be held September 11th. Mark, W5MDS
will notify the ARRL for posting in QST.
There will be a shake down meeting at Florey Park in preparation for Field Day. Mark, W5MDS is coordinating the effort. Mark, I failed to copy the date. Please provide to the group......thanks.
The 2004 field day will be held at Florey Park. Stay tuned
for more details.
Or were there 5 things...............not
sure.............Mark?
Dick, W5RC and a B asked about the 501-C-3 efforts. It looks
like the documents are ready. The club will need to review and modify as necessary.
The documents will then go back to the lawyers to complete. Bill, W5WRL reminded
all that there are by-laws to review and modify as well.
Dwayne aka Tod, KD5VOU asked about the portable tower that
we discussed building several meeting past. Nothing was decided and we somehow managed
to begin talking about 4 wheelers.... We talk about more than just radios at
our meetings.
Bill, N5POB asked for new business:
The Odessa swap fest is tentatively set for Labor Day
weekend.
Motion made by Bill, N5POB to set the date for the PBARC
swap fest/tailgate to be the first weekend after Labor Day. This will be the
date every year.
The motion was seconded and passed.
I apologize for not knowing the gentleman's name a call but
he is providing towers to the club for take down. After some discussion it was
decided to form a group to go and take a look at the towers to see if they were
safe to work on. After the recon report we will decide if this is something
that the club will want to take on. Please correct this portion of the minutes
with a name and call sign.
Mark, W5MDS suggest that with the proposed changes to the
licensing structure that the club develop and deliver a mentoring program to discuss
HF etiquette and operations. If you are not aware of the ARRL proposal to the
FCC please go to the following web site:
