I was licensed by the Federal Communications Commission on November 1, 1988 as a Novice Class Amateur Radio Operator. On July 7th, 1992 Bill was granted an Amateur Extra Class Operator license.

Since May 1980, I have been an active "Caver", with cave discoveries & explorations into numerous caves through out the Southwestern United States. I founded the Permian Basin Speleological Society in 1983, the 300th grotto of the NSS and a member grotto of the Southwestern Region of the NSS . For more information: CAVERNET

I am employed as a Construction Supervisor in the Cable Television Industry. For over 22 years I have worked in Midland for Suddenlink Communications . My primary responsibity is all new cable broadband construction for Midland, Big Spring, and Andrews Texas . In 2002 I oversaw the deployment of an analog fiber optics cross country connection between Midland and Andrews Texas A first for the Region. In 2003 I oversaw the construction of a fiber optic interconnect between Big Spring and Midland, Texas. I have also overseen the complete rebuild of the hybrid fiber coax broadband cable TV systems in both Andrews and Big Spring, Texas.

I grew up with Amateur Radio, as my father Howard Bentley (SK) ex K5SXU, KJ5EL, and W5EBO was a Ham Radio Operator all of my life. My mother WA5STG is also a Amateur Radio Operator. Since being licensed, my favorite Amateur Radio Band is 6 Meters, working every band opening I can and my favorite activity is Field Day.

I was the past Vice President of the Midland Amateur Radio Club and served as a director for several years. I am currently the President and one of the founders of the Permian Basin Amateur Radio Club in Midland, Texas. Most likely I can be found on the Horned Toad Intertie System

My aim in Amateur Radio is to operate for International Friendship and Goodwill.
