One of the
most well known natural landmarks in West Texas
has been vandalized.
The
Butterfly Formation in the Sonora Caverns was
partially destroyed just before Thanksgiving, when
someone removed two-thirds of the right wing. The
formation was discovered in the 1800s and is one
of the major attractions for the caverns. It has
been pictured in hundreds of
books.
